Jenny Hill is both a collage/textile artist and co-owner of Locharburn Vineyard with her husband Chris, in Central Otago, New Zealand.
Central Otago’s dramatic landscape, rich history and various uses of the land over time and nature have been Jenny’s inspiration to produce diverse abstract artwork that is highly textural, layered in both composition and materials.
A vital part of her creative process is de-constructing the materials and reconstructing these into layers resulting in a whole new narrative which expresses her love of colour, texture and surface design. The collages are created with inspiring photos, papers both recycled and her own mark making, acrylic paint, wax and line definition with ink.
Encaustic Collages are created with her materials layered in wax medium with oil paint and pastels used to define and highlight areas.
Jenny’s philosophy is the more you work, the more you learn, the more you imagine, the more you create, the more you know your own voice, so she keeps pushing the boundaries as an artist, experimenting with new ideas and techniques, this is part of the joy of her ongoing art practice.
